Shark Fin Cove

February 22nd, 2014 • Davenport, California

My original vision was to create a contrasty abstract B&W long exposure out of the "shark fin" sea stack. Shortly after arriving it became clear that the tidal and cloud conditions were not suitable for my vision so I switched my focus to creating something in color. Even though for years I've lived within a short drive from some spectacular California coastline I've only captured a handful of seascapes, so it felt a bit awkward for me. I originally shared this capture privately with friends and family but after some positive feedback I decided to release it into the wild.

Special thanks to my son who lugged my gear around and helped pick out compositions. I almost got him interested enough to take some pictures. Baby steps!
